Rev. Michael McNamara

Rev. Michael McNamara is the Pastor for the First Presbyterian Church of Victor. Mike grew up in Rochester and went to Ithaca College, where he majored in Environmental Studies with a minor in Philosophy. He was a science teacher in New York City briefly before he acknowledged a call to ministry and attended Union Theological Seminary in New York City, graduating with an M. Div in 2008. For 10 years, Mike served congregations in New Orleans, LA and Washington, DC area. He has an incredible passion for community and mission work – helping with Katrina recovery work and working for the Presbytery office as a Mission Coordinator.

Following the pandemic, Mike moved back to Rochester and shifted back to teaching science and earned his MSEd from Roberts Wesleyan University. During the past year, he has expressed a strong desire to return to ministry and feels called to a congregation that is seeking to deepen its relationships with God, each other, and the community. Mike shares with the congregation of Victor First Presbyterian Church a strong belief and desire to help others through needed mission projects and to work together, discovering new paths laid in front of us by God. Pastor Mike has two young sons, is an avid rock climber, and loves to spend time outside.
